Replacement Windows in Washington
Builders Service Company replaces windows in homes across Washington State, and we have served Washington homeowners since 1974. We install Preservation 9000 vinyl replacement windows, and we are the exclusive provider of Preservation 9000 windows in Washington. The line covers the styles most houses need: double-hung, slider, casement and awning, hopper, picture, garden, bay and bow, and custom shapes. The right window in the right opening makes a room easier to live in, summer and winter. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation, where we look at the windows you have now, talk through styles room by room and measure each opening.

Products we install
Every window we install is a Preservation 9000 vinyl window. What changes from room to room is the style.
- Double-hung: Both sashes slide up and down, and the classic profile suits older homes. Where a neighborhood has historic or design review, a double-hung window that matches the original lines is usually the place to start.
- Slider: The sash glides sideways, so nothing swings out. Sliders work well on upper floors and under tight eaves.
- Casement and awning: A casement is hinged at the side and cranks open wide enough that you can clean both sides of the glass from inside. An awning is hinged at the top, which makes both good choices for airing out kitchens and baths.
- Hopper: Hinged at the bottom and tilting inward, a hopper adds ventilation in a small opening such as a bathroom.
- Picture: A fixed pane with no sash to frame the view. Picture windows are the usual pick for view homes.
- Garden: A small box that projects out from the wall, often over a kitchen sink, with room on the shelf for plants.
- Bay and bow: These extend past the wall to add space and light. Like picture windows, they suit rooms built around a view.
- Shapes: Custom shapes fill arches, angles and other openings a standard rectangle won’t fit.

Built for Washington weather
Washington asks different things of a window depending on which side of the mountains you live on.
- Wet west side: Long rainy seasons are hard on wood frames and sills. Vinyl frames won’t rot, and they never need painting or sanding to keep water out.
- Dry east side: Cold winters, freeze-thaw cycles and strong sun mean we look closely at how each window faces and how much heat your home loses. Where a house relies on electric, oil or propane heat, efficient windows pay back more.
- Wildfire country: Windows are one part of a fire-ready exterior. On homes in high-risk areas we also talk through Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents and Class A fire-rated siding such as the Evergreen Shield Siding System or metal.
- Salt air: On waterfront homes, we choose corrosion-resistant hardware so locks and cranks keep working near the water.

Our process
- Consultation: We visit your home, walk through each room with you and talk about how you use the windows: which ones you open, which ones frame a view, which ones let in noise or drafts. Then we go over styles and options.
- Measurement: We measure every opening so each new window is ordered to fit, including any custom shapes.
- Installation: Our installers remove the old units, set the new windows, and seal and finish them inside and out.
- Cleanup: We haul away the old windows and clean up the work area before we leave, then walk the job with you.

Windows FAQ
Which windows does Builders Service Company install?
We install Preservation 9000 vinyl replacement windows, and we are the exclusive provider of Preservation 9000 windows in Washington. Styles include double-hung, slider, casement and awning, hopper, picture, garden, bay and bow, and custom shapes. During the free in-home consultation we match a style to each room, such as casements for kitchen ventilation or picture windows where you want an open view.
Should I replace the single-pane or aluminum windows in my older home?
In most cases, yes, that is a good reason to replace. Homes built before 1980 often still have single-pane glass or aluminum frames. Replacing them with Preservation 9000 vinyl windows gives you frames that won't rot and never need painting. If your house is in a historic district, we can use double-hung profiles that match the originals so the look stays the same.
My windows from the 1980s or 1990s are fogging up. Is it time to replace them?
Fog between the panes usually means the seal has failed, and that is common in homes from the 1980s and 1990s. Many of those houses got first-generation vinyl windows that are now reaching the end of their life. We can look at each window during a free in-home consultation and tell you which openings need attention and which style fits best.
Will new windows help with my heating bills?
They can, and the payback is larger in homes that heat with electric, oil or propane. Efficient windows hold heat better than the single-pane and early vinyl units in many older Washington homes. We do not quote savings figures, but we can look at how your home is heated. Ask your electric utility about any current rebate programs before you order.
Can new windows cut noise from a nearby airport or busy road?
Yes, new windows can reduce outside noise, which helps homes near airports and busy roads. We can't promise a specific decibel drop, because results depend on the house, the walls and the openings. During the consultation we will look at the rooms where noise bothers you most and talk about which Preservation 9000 styles suit those openings.
Do I need approval to replace windows in a historic district?
You may, depending on your city and neighborhood. Some Washington communities have historic or design review that covers changes to window style. Check what approvals apply before work starts, and we can help by choosing double-hung profiles that match your existing windows. We cannot guarantee how a review board will rule, but matching the original look is usually the right starting point.
Do you offer financing or discounts on window replacement?
Yes. Financing is available, and you can see the options on our financing page or ask during your free in-home consultation. We also offer discounts for seniors, active military, veterans and first responders. Every window installation we do is backed by our lifetime warranty, and our Washington contractor license number is BUILDSC027JN.
