Decking Installation and Deck Replacement in Washington
Builders Service Company builds new decks and replaces worn-out ones for homeowners across the state, and we have served Washington since 1974. We install wood, vinyl and composite decking, so you can match the look you want to your budget and to the weather your deck will face. Our crews build backyard and front-yard decks, patio decks and built-in bench seating, and we can tear out an old deck that has started to sag, soften or simply drag down the look of your home. Every project starts with a visit to your property, where we look at the space, talk through materials and plan a deck around how you actually use your yard.

Products we install
Composite decking
Composite boards won’t rot and don’t need staining. They are a good fit for decks that stay damp or shaded for much of the year.
Vinyl decking
Vinyl decking also skips the staining and stands up to wet weather without rotting. It keeps upkeep to an occasional cleaning.
Wood decking
Wood gives a deck a natural look and is often the budget-friendly choice. Plan on regular sealing to keep it in good shape.
Deck styles
- Backyard decks for relaxing or hosting family and friends
- Front-yard decks
- Patio decks
- Built-in bench seats

Built for Washington weather
A deck in Washington has to handle very different conditions depending on which side of the state you live on.
West side: rain, shade and moss
Long wet seasons and tree cover keep deck surfaces damp, and moss and rot follow. We plan drainage so water runs off instead of pooling, pick surfaces with good slip resistance, and usually point homeowners toward composite or vinyl boards in these spots.
East side: sun, heat, snow and frost
Strong sun fades deck boards and heats them underfoot, so lighter composite or vinyl colors tend to work better. Colder winters matter below the boards too: footings go to the local frost depth, and the framing is sized for the snow load the deck has to carry.
Wildfire areas
Where wildfire risk is high, we recommend ember-resistant decking and clearance under the deck.
Salt air and views
Near salt water, we use corrosion-resistant fasteners and hardware. On homes with a view, we help you choose railings that keep your sightlines open.

Our process
1. Free in-home consultation
We visit your property and inspect the area where the deck will go, or the deck you want replaced. Then we walk you through the options that fit your home, how you plan to use the space and your budget.
2. Measurement
We measure the site and the house so the deck’s size, height and layout fit your yard and connect cleanly to your home.
3. Installation
Our crew builds the deck from the footings and framing up through the boards, railings and any built-in benches.
4. Cleanup
We haul away scraps, packaging and any old decking we removed, then walk the finished deck with you.
What our customers say
This review comes from a homeowner whose siding we replaced, and it reflects the same service you can expect on a deck project.
“Builders Service Company installed new vinyl siding over my wood siding on my nearly 100-year-old Craftsman home. I went with Builders’ vinyl siding because of its quality appearance, insulation, and better environmental impact. Mason, the owner, was extremely attentive and communicative. He often came to see me in-person and was willing to do so as early or late as I needed. You really don’t get customer service like this anymore.” - Andrea Walton.

Decking FAQ
Can you replace my old deck, or do you only build new ones?
We do both. If your current deck is damaged, worn or no longer fits how you use your yard, we can tear it out and build a new one in its place. During the free in-home consultation we inspect the existing deck and the area around it, then go over the decking options that suit your home and your budget.
How much upkeep does a wood deck need in Washington?
A wood deck needs regular sealing to hold up in Washington weather. That ongoing care is the trade-off for its natural look and lower starting cost. If you would rather skip sealing and staining altogether, composite and vinyl boards are the alternatives we install, and we can help you weigh upfront cost against long-term upkeep when we visit.
What changes when you build a deck in eastern Washington?
The biggest differences are sun, heat and winter loads. Strong sun fades deck boards and makes them hot underfoot, so we often suggest lighter composite or vinyl colors. Below the surface, we set footings to the local frost depth and size the framing for the snow load in your area, and we check those conditions on site before we design anything.
How do you plan a deck in an area with high wildfire risk?
Where wildfire risk is high, we recommend ember-resistant decking and keeping the space under the deck clear. Stored firewood, lumber and dry debris under a deck give embers somewhere to land. We talk through decking choices for your property during the free in-home consultation and help you plan how the area beneath the deck will stay open and easy to keep clean.
Do you build decks for waterfront homes?
Yes. Near salt water we use corrosion-resistant fasteners and hardware so the parts holding your deck together stand up to salt air. If your home has a water view, we also help you choose railings that keep your sightlines open, both from the deck and from inside the house, so the deck adds to the view instead of blocking it.
How much does a new deck cost, and can I finance it?
Cost depends on the size of the deck, the decking material and your site, so we don't quote prices before seeing your home. At the free in-home consultation we measure the space and go over materials, so the numbers reflect your actual project. Financing is available, and we offer discounts for seniors, active military, veterans and first responders.
