Serving Skagit County, WA
Builders Service Company installs siding, roofing, windows and decks for homeowners across Skagit County. We serve three cities here: Mount Vernon, Anacortes and Burlington. Each one has its own page with local detail, and this page sets them side by side so you can see how your home’s age and setting shape an exterior project. Every job, from a new roof to a full siding replacement, starts with a free in-home consultation at your house.
How homes differ across Skagit County
The three cities fall into two settings. Mount Vernon and Burlington share the North Snohomish/Skagit climate region, where Skagit Valley wind and the flood plain are the local factors that stand out. Anacortes sits in the rain shadow and islands region instead, with lower rainfall than the valley but steady marine wind and salt air. On that stretch of coast, corrosion-resistant fasteners and flashing and finishes rated for marine exposure matter, and vinyl or the Evergreen Shield Siding System are the siding types we usually suggest.
Housing age splits differently. In Anacortes the dominant era is 1980–99, the period of composite and hardboard siding, including LP siding with its known history of moisture failure, along with first-generation vinyl windows. Mount Vernon and Burlington lean newer: their dominant era is 2000 or later, though the median home was built in 1989 in Mount Vernon and in 1993 in Burlington. Houses from the 2000s typically carry builder-grade vinyl or fiber cement siding now due for a first repaint or replacement, plus builder-grade windows.
Manufactured homes also vary. They make up 6% of housing units in Mount Vernon, compared with 2% in Anacortes and 1% in Burlington.
Wildfire exposure is the one thing all three share: each is rated Low.

Skagit County FAQ
Which Skagit County cities do you serve?
We serve Mount Vernon, Anacortes and Burlington, and each has its own page with details for that city. Mount Vernon is the largest of the three, with 13,623 housing units, followed by Anacortes with 8,801 and Burlington with 4,246. If your home is in or near one of these cities, call our Seattle office at 206-430-1927 to schedule a free in-home consultation.
How do conditions in Anacortes differ from the Skagit Valley?
Anacortes is on Fidalgo Island, in the rain shadow, so it gets less rain than the valley but more marine wind and salt air. Mount Vernon and Burlington sit inland, where valley wind and the flood plain are the local factors. For a house exposed to salt air, we plan corrosion-resistant fasteners and flashing and finishes rated for marine exposure, and we talk through siding choices during the consultation.
What siding is likely on older homes in Anacortes?
Many Anacortes homes date from the 1980–99 era, when composite and hardboard siding were common, including LP siding, which has a known history of moisture failure. Homes from that period often still have first-generation vinyl windows as well. When we replace that siding, we usually recommend vinyl, metal or the Evergreen Shield Siding System, and we settle on the best option for your home during the free in-home consultation.
Does wildfire risk change material choices in Skagit County?
Wildfire exposure is rated Low in Mount Vernon, Anacortes and Burlington, the three cities we serve here. If fire resistance still matters to you, the Evergreen Shield Siding System carries a Class A fire rating, the highest fire-resistance rating for construction materials. Metal siding is another option we install. We can compare both with vinyl during your free in-home consultation and back the work with our lifetime warranty.
